Principal's Message

Welcome to New Lexington School -  Home of the Dolphins!  New Lexington School is proud to serve students in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade in the El Monte City School District.

At New Lexington School, our staff is dedicated to providing an extraordinary educational experience to our students and ensuring that they all achieve at high levels of academic proficiency.  With continued professional development and working together as a professional learning community, we are committed to academic excellence and the social emotional well being of our students.

As a Leader in Me School, we also believe that every child is a leader.  Utilizing the Seven Habits, we work on helping students identify ways to make good choices in their lives that bring about positive outcomes.  These choices begin here with us, but eventually transfer to choices made at home and ultimately in their future.  We are excited to continue the Leader in Me at our school.

Additionally, we are extremely proud to be moving into the third year of our Mandarin Dual Language Immersion program.  The focus of our dual language program is to prepare global citizens for a multicultural and multilingual world by ensuring them the opportunity to be bilingual, bi-literate, and bi-cultural.  It is exciting to watch our little ones learn the Mandarin language so quickly!

This school year we have a wealth of additional great things happening on our campus.  We have implemented a structured recess program called Playworks that centers around student engagement, inclusion, and healthy play.  We continue to foster the importance of visual and performing arts through weekly music instruction with our music teacher and dance instruction through Conga Kids.  Our Legos Robotics Program continues and this year we are proud to introduce computer science to our fourth-sixth grade students through Hello World.

Our after school partnership with LEARN and the ASPIRE program continues to thrive bringing an abundance of expanded learning opportunities that center around STEM, bowling, bringing hands-on experiences of petting zoos and oceanic tide pools.  We are excited to also be bringing back Musical Theater to our campus after school along with opportunities for Mandarin tutoring, bowling for our non-ASPIRE students, cooking classes, and so much more.  At New Lexington, we pride ourselves on connecting with our students and making our school a safe and happy place to be!

During this year, we invite you to get involved and share your ideas with us for making our school even better.  We are here to support you.  Please feel free to reach out to us at (626) 575-2320 if you have any questions or concerns.   We thank you in advance for your support and look forward to creating a spectacular and memorable school year.

In partnership,

Helen Guo-Perez
